Application form for apprenticeship

If you're a young person with an aptitude for IT and technology and you're keen to get on and get a job in the IT industry, then you're in the right place. Not every school leaver wants to carry on studying to go to university, for some starting their careers early and entering worthwhile employment is the right option. Our IT Industry Programme allows young people to do just that.

Get skills, get qualified, get hired

You can learn a lot of practical skills in 6 months. In 6 months you could have the knowledge ability and experience to be able to install and maintain an IT network for an organisation. We design, install and maintain IT networks all the time; when you are with us we will show you how it's done. We'll also make sure you've mastered these skills and that you're competent - don't worry, we'll let you practice on a simulated system before you're let loose on an organisation's critical IT systems.

Practical skills and know-how go hand-in-hand. During the 6 month programme you will be working towards and achieve your advance Apprenticeship qualifications and industry qualifications such as CompTIA and Microsoft certifications. There's a lot to get through, but we don't believe in taking an eternity to achieve a qualification. When you are with us you work hard to expediently gain the qualifications you need and then you can put what you have learnt into practice in an IT job.

The IT industry is massive, and it is not getting any smaller. Every business, every organisation, almost every home now has IT technology embedded within it. And that means that the world needs people who understand IT technology, how to make it secure, and how to get the most from it - the world needs IT professionals. Just some of the career paths available to you in your early career will be:

  • Computer Engineer
  • Network Engineer
  • IT Technician
  • First Line Support
  • IT Customer Service

We've told you how we can give you IT skills, knowledge and qualifications - you're also going to need a few things more. To be a successful IT professional, you need to communicate well, you need to present yourself professionally, and you need some business acumen. That's why alongside your IT training, we will work with you on developing these other skills.

We have a long history of working with other companies in the IT Industry; we have had people go to work for companies such as Logica, Intel, EDS and Hewlett Packard to name just a few. During your programme our staff will help you find and secure an IT job that is right for you. Once you are in employment we stay in contact with you and your employer to keep your skills and knowledge level topped up to enable your career to progress.

Business like, not like school

JBC is foremost an IT company. We are an IT business and we operate in a business like manner. That means everyone, including the young people on the Industry Programme, must dress smartly in business attire at all times. Our facilities are in the Earlsdon district of Coventry, where we have well equipped workshops and training rooms. The IT equipment we use is typical of that used in the majority of organisations who deploy IT systems.
